CHEM 233 - Organic Lab I - Fall 2013
Things you may find useful:
Sample Data Sets
I have created a fictitious product card
and experimental section to illustrate what I want yours to look like
Shown below is the example set provided
in prior years. Note, particularly, the way in which the spectroscopy
is annotated. The experimental section is also a good illustration of
what I want from your writing and of how to write out spectroscopic

Lab Technique Resources
Synthetic organic chemistry can seem like voodoo. To help fight
this, U. Rochester Prof.Alison.
J. Frontier has compiled an excellent page about technique the
she calls "Not
Voodoo." It is well worth you time.

Lab Report Resources - ACS Citation Style, Representative
Literature and Sample Experimental Section
The ACS Style
Guide is now available online. You may find Ch.
14 (References) most useful. There are ways to cite websites,
MSDS sheets, textbooks, everything. What's not to love? And I'm not
just saying that because my favorite grad school librarian wrote it!
